Studying social competence is one of the most important areas of studying human social behavior. The article discusses and analyzes the achievements of past research on social competence from a pedagogical and psychological point of view. The concept and content of social competence is defined, and then the components of emotional competence and their functions are discussed as important factors of social competence activity. Description of the practice of analysis and measurement of social skills and abilities. A discussion of methods used to develop social skills and knowledge concludes the article.
