The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of expressions in the Russian language starting with prepositions. The main types of prepositions, their syntactic functions and semantic features are considered, as well as their role in forming connections between the elements of a sentence and influencing the perception and interpretation of statements. As a result of the analysis of various texts of fiction, journalism and scientific texts, the patterns and specific features of the use of prepositions in the initial position, as well as their influence on the structural and semantic aspects of the Russian language, are revealed. The results obtained can be useful both for further linguistic research and for practical application in teaching Russian as a foreign language.
